Today Observatory Teide on Tenerife and Observatory Roque de los Muchachos on La Palma belong to the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias), whose headquarters is located in the city of La Laguna (La Laguna) in Tenerife and are part of the European Northern Observatory (European Northern Observatory). These two observatories are the main centers of astrophysical observations in Europe. It employs more than 60 representatives of different organizations and academic institutions from 19 countries. Their equipment installed on the territory of the observatory, considered unique in the world and is the biggest concern of scientists in the field of astrophysics from around the world. Teide Observatory is located at an altitude of 2390 m on the slopes of a volcano on the territory of 50 hectares. The researchers carried out here observing the sun and other celestial bodies. Teide Observatory is equipped with a range of modern solar telescopes and night. The main building of the Teide Observatory was built in 1990. There are a variety of rooms, hotel, kitchen, dining room, technical room. Also at the Teide Observatory in the dome of the telescope is information center (Centro de Visitantes), whose employees are engaged in educational activities, conduct lectures and seminars for students and tourists. Information Center Observatory participates in various programs designed to introduce astronomy both adults and children. Each summer, in the Teide Observatory are open days, during which visitors are invited to witness the telescopes of the Observatory, to understand how they work and learn more about astronomy in the Canary Islands and in the world. At the open day, tourists can visit THEMIS telescopes, IAC-80, Carlos Sanchez, Bradford, solar laboratory, ground-based optical station and a vacuum tower telescope. The minimum quota of views will take place only if there are at least 15 people in the group, and in this case, the interested parties will be notified by e-mail or by phone.
